I have owned one of these units for over two years and use it to dispense food when I am away for short periods. The primary advantage of this unit over others that I own ie Eheim, Aquachef and Rena is the ability to dispense the precise amount of food you desire and even alternate the type of food between feedings.
Filling the small compartments was somewhat problematic until I began using a 1/8 tps measure for that purpose.
Care must be taken to ensure that the food compartment unit is positioned right side up. Failure to do so results in no food being dispensed.
The service on this item was good. The product arrived and looked like it had been on a shelf for a very long time. It did not work at all. When I requested a refund of my purchase price the provider emailed me and called me several times to work through the problem. My credit card was charged and then credited with the full purchase price. For that I am thankful. However, I have since gone to a store to purchase the item so I can see it.
I bought this item about a year ago and it worked okay during the year but there were some issues. I have been feeding pellets and it is a little difficult to get the pellets into the small squares for each feeding without spilling any. I found that sometimes if pellets got out of the squares it would bind up and not spin correctly. So each time I filled it I had to make sure I checked it the next day to ensure it was moving. (never go on vacation without 1 day for a test!) All in all it worked okay but after 1 year it stopped. I changed batteries twice and cleaned every piece of food out but no movement. I’m dissapointed that I have to buy another one already and will definitely buy something different and one that I don’t have to measure each portion.
I ordered this product before I went on a 2 week vacation. It was to feed my 3 red-ear sliders. When I received it, I thought it would be too small, but it was just perfect. It worked great and it fed my turtles the right amount of food. I would recommend this product to anyone.
